Call for exhibitors

We accepted submissions for the 2026 edition until the end of February.

Terms and Conditions

The Jagiellonian Fair is a cornerstone of the Re:tradition festival. It is a vibrant celebration of folk art, featuring artisans from Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Lithuania, and beyond. To us, the Fair is a grand exhibition of traditional craftsmanship and art, where visitors can meet masters of their trade face-to-face and purchase their handmade works. As the stalls fill the historic streets of Lublin’s Old Town, the festival also offers numerous live demonstrations and hands-on craft workshops.

For many years, the festival has taken place around the same time, in the second half of August. In 2026, the Jagiellonian Fair, as well as the entire Re:tradition festival, will take place from August 21-23.

The festival’s heart beats in the historic streets and squares of Lublin’s Old Town and city centre, where you’ll find artisan stalls, live craft demonstrations, and masterclasses. Other events in the festival programme can also be found in the garden of Dom na Podwalu and at other nearby locations. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, we recommend checking our festival map to easily navigate all the elements of Re:tradition.

We are looking for artisans dedicated to traditional crafts and folk art – creators who consciously draw from local traditions, ancient patterns, and time-honored techniques. We deeply value the knowledge and skills passed down through generations, whether through family lineage or a master-apprentice relationship. While we appreciate folk art in its purest, unchanged form, we also see great value in creative, conscious interpretations of tradition. Membership in official folk art organizations is not required. However, we do ask that our artists provide live demonstrations of their craft at their stalls. By showcasing the making process, we celebrate and uphold the true authenticity of the art we promote.
The Jagiellonian Fair brings together masters of numerous traditional disciplines. Explore stalls dedicated to: sculpture, painting, pottery and ceramics, embroidery, lace-making, basketry, toy-making, ritual and decorative art, instrument making, weaving, blacksmithing… and many other unique crafts that draw from deep-rooted regional traditions.
If you are interested in participating in the next edition of the Jagiellonian Fair (part of the Re:tradition festival), please submit your application including the following details:

1) first and last name;

2) correspondence address;

3) telephone number and email address;

4) artist profile – a brief description of your work, how long you have practiced your craft, who taught you your skills (family/master), and which regional traditions you represent;

5) portfolio – a few high-quality photos of the items you wish to showcase at the festival.

Send your application by email: biuro@retradycja.eu

or by post:

(please mark the envelope: “Jagiellonian Fair”).

We accept applications for each edition from the beginning of September until the end of February. The list of invited artists is finalized by mid-April.

By submitting an application, you agree to the processing of your personal data by Workshops of Culture in Lublin (Information Clause).

The complete directory of folk exhibitors is available on our website.

Once we have selected the invited artists for the Jagiellonian Fair, we work with them to finalise the necessary documentation and media permissions. Because we wait for these official confirmations to ensure all information is accurate, our artist list is updated gradually from mid-April until August.

The selection process is conducted by the festival organizers at Workshops of Culture in Lublin, in close collaboration with a panel of experts. This group includes ethnologists, cultural anthropologists, and specialists in the field of folk art, ensuring that every artisan invited meets our high standards for authenticity and traditional craftsmanship.

1) Once invited, you will receive a complete set of organizational documents. Following this, we will send details regarding your assigned location, accommodation, and other logistics. Please ensure you have received all messages. We recommend printing your confirmation, the festival map, and our contact details to keep with you during the event.

2) Please plan your display according to the type of stall assigned to you (a tent vs. a wooden hut). Bring your own decorative materials and enough stock to last for all three days. Important: only products handmade by the invited artist may be displayed. We do not permit the resale of third-party items.

3) We strongly encourage all artists to perform live demonstrations of their craft. This highlights your expertise and the authenticity of your work. If you plan to demonstrate, please remember to bring all necessary tools and raw material.

Stall opening hours 2026

August 21, (Friday), 13.00-18.00

August 22, (Saturday), 10.00-18.00

August 23, (Sunday), 10.00-18.00

Please note that the festival spirit continues long after the stalls close! While the Fair operates during the day, the evening programme features concerts starting at 19:00, followed by traditional dance parties that run late into the night.

A designated parking area for exhibitors is located at the Zamkowy Square. Please note that access is strictly limited to vehicles whose license plate numbers have been submitted to us in advance. Entry permits are approved and issued by the City Office. You have until one month before the festival to submit or update your vehicle details. After this deadline, we cannot modify your declaration or issue a new permit. Without a valid permit, you will be unable to enter the festival grounds or access the parking area.
YES! Every year, we hold the Jagiellonian Fair Artisan of the Year competition. During the event, a dedicated jury of ethnologists and folk art experts visits each stall to evaluate the craftsmanship. The jury focuses on the mastery of the work, its adherence to traditional patterns and techniques, and the overall aesthetic of the display. After reviewing all participants, the committee grants awards and honorable mentions. Winners receive specially designed promotional postcards featuring their work to help share their artistry with a wider audience. Honorable Mentions receive an automatic invitation to participate in the following year’s festival.

Additionally, the committee provides expert feedback to the organizers, suggesting ways to continue evolving and improving the Fair’s artistic standards.

Are you passionate about teaching? As an exhibitor, you have the opportunity to hold formal workshops during the festival. Simply highlight your teaching experience and workshop ideas in your application. Each year, we select about a dozen unique sessions to highlight in our public schedule.

At the heart of the Re:tradition festival is a meaningful dialogue between masters and the public. We encourage you to be an ambassador for your craft – talk to the tourists, tell them about your region’s history, and give them a hands-on glimpse into your demanding work. Artisans who go above and beyond to engage the public are the true soul of our event!

If you need assistance or have additional questions during the event, please visit the Festival Office at Grodzka 7 (in the heart of the Old Town). We will do our best to help you resolve any problems and ensure you have a smooth festival experience ;)
