Workshops | Spring songs and games from Kalników in the Nadsanie region | Krajeczka (UKR/POL) | age 5+ with a guardian | REGISTRATION
We invite you to a family workshop filled with melodies from Nadsanie. The Krajeczka band from Przemyśl performs traditional Ukrainian songs from south-eastern Poland.
During the workshop, we will learn more about Nadsanie and the village of Kalników, discover traditional spring songs performed during Easter, as well as circle and procession games. We will welcome the spring, learn simple refrains, and find out what games such as żuczok/żuczek, hołubka/gołąbeczka, or hruszeczka/gruszeczka are all about. We will also meet the band of Maksym Nakonieczny and join in the dancing!
As Krajeczka puts it:
The workshop is meant to give children an experience of tradition through action: singing, walking in a procession, rhythm, gestures, and meeting the musicians. We do not teach everything “to perfection”; what matters more is experiencing the spirit of Kalników’s spring games together.
