Film screening | #FindTheArtisan – Lucyna and Edward Pikuła | dir. Mateusz Borny (POL), produced by Workshops of Culture

This year, we present the third film created under the #FindtheArtisan title.

This time, the protagonists of the film are folk artists – Lucyna and Edward Pikuła from Krasnystaw.

For many years, the couple jointly created Christmas decorations. Paper, tissue paper, straw, and beads allowed them to make intricate garlands, hedgehog-shaped baubles, and carousels, decorating home interiors and giving them an almost fairy-tale character.

The tradition that Mr Edward inherited from his father and grandfather eventually became the couple’s trademark. Their home was also filled with embroidered wall hangings and crocheted doilies.

Thanks to the material recorded between October 2025 and June 2026, we can discover their story, the extraordinary bond they shared, and learn more about the craft that captured the hearts of many people.

Mr Edward Pikuła passed away in February 2026. His wife is trying to continue the activity that was such an important part of their shared life. This year, we will meet Mrs Lucyna not only during the film screening, but also at the Jagiellonian Fair, where she will present her masterful works.

The film is the result of a collaboration between the Traditional Culture Studio (Workshops of Culture in Lublin) and Mateusz Borny, responsible for creating the film.
