Dance night | Rodzinna Orkiestra Burdalskich, Kapela Fedaków, Kapela Murchole, Kapela Niwińskich (POL)

On Friday evening, shortly after the concerts end, we invite you to our dance floor, which will be filled with the sounds of live traditional music.

As the main theme of this year’s festival is children and childhood, the dance stage will feature several family bands.

The first will be Rodzinna Orkiestra Burdalskich, performing and singing music from north-eastern Poland, including the traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of Warmia and Masuria, communities resettled in the region after World War II, as well as the Suwałki region and Podlasie. The band consists of parents (Marta and Robert) and their three children (Gabriela, Filip, and Adam). The group is also part of the “Cztery Domy Słońca” project, whose concert will take place on Friday at 19:00.

Next, Kapela Fedaków will invite us to dance with Silesian melodies and original music inspired by tradition. This family not only performs music but also promotes Silesian folklore by organising workshops and dance events. In addition to Iga and Kuba Fedak, the stage will also feature violinist Maria Stępień.

For the first time at our festival, we will welcome Kapela Murchole. This mysterious name hides a word once used in Kujawy and Pałuki to describe the inhabitants of Poznań. The musicians forming the band (Maciej Filipczuk, Kacper M. Nowak, Marcin Sawiński, and Ewa Szymczak) draw on old recordings of local bands, including Jan Boruch’s ensemble from Słupy, Antoni Bąk’s group from Żużuły, as well as recordings by Szczepan Nowicki and Stanisław Nowak from Kcynia. Their aim is to rediscover the key to the forgotten music of Pałuki.

The dance evening will close with Kapela Niwińskich, featuring Mateusz and Agnieszka Niwińscy and Jakub Mielcarek. Thanks to them, we will hear melodies from Radom region, Forest Mazovia, and the Sanniki region, among others. The band preserves the style and sound of old rural music, arranging, improvising, and developing it in their own distinctive way. Like the Burdalski family, Agnieszka and Mateusz will also appear earlier during the “Cztery Domy Słońca” concert, where they will perform together with their daughter Zosia.

In keeping with the festival’s main theme, each of the four bands will prepare one traditional children’s game for us – and all adult dance participants are invited to join as well! Let yourself be carried away by the joy of play and return, for a moment, to the days of childhood!

The dance events are hosted by Ewa Grochowska.
