Wiesława’s family has a rich heritage of straw weaving, a tradition passed down through generations. As she recalls, “Straw has been a constant presence in my life since childhood, as my grandfather, Antoni Skrzypiec, skillfully crafted hats from it.
As long as I can remember,my mother, Stanisława, has been making Christmas decorations, like angels and other toys, from straw. Over time, I learned how to do it too.”
Using rye straw grown on her own land, Wiesława creates a diverse range of objects, from classic hats to whimsical figures like angels and goats. She also fashions stunning compositions with dried flowers, grasses, and herbs collected from the nearby fields and forests. A member of Folk Artists’ Association, Wiesława’s talent was recognised in 2021 when she won first prize for her herbal bouquet at the Voivodeship Herb Festival in Fajsławice.
