Wiesław has been a basket weaver since childhood, carrying on a family legacy passed down through generations. Using unpeeled willow, he skillfully handcrafts diverse baskets employing the traditional rib-cross technique of the Powiśle region. Among his creations are the distinctive ‘kabłącok’ baskets emblematic of Lucimia village in the Przyłęk commune. Renowned for their arched handles, these baskets have long served as indispensable tools on local farms for transporting and storing produce.  At one time, almost every household in Lucimia made such baskets.  Wiesław is a member of Folk Artists’ Association and his exceptional work was recognised in 2023 with an award at the Kazimierz Dolny Folk Art Fair.

The art of making “kabłącok” baskets in Lucimia, Radom region was inscribed on Poland’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017.
