Serhiy Sviatnyi is a master craftsman specializing in traditional wooden toys and folk instruments.

His professional journey began with formal training in carpentry, which he furthered through studies at the Nizhyn University of Culture and Arts. Since 1980, he has honed his craft by apprenticing under renowned regional masters, including Oleksandr Kolosha, Anatoliy Kaloshyn, and Anatoliy Ivankov.

Serhiy’s workshop produces a charming array of rattles, clappers, horses, and birds, all deeply rooted in the decorative traditions of the Chernihiv region. A hallmark of his work is the preservation of the wood’s natural colour and grain, giving each piece a raw, authentic appeal.

A member of the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, Serhiy’s contributions to the field were formally recognized in 2019 when he received the Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky Chernihiv Regional Art Prize.
