Roma and Virgilijus Šlipaitis are a couple dedicated to the art of wickerwork. Virgilijus honed his skills through formal education, graduating from a prestigious art school and specialized courses. Having completed a four-year art education in Kaunas, he pursued a vocational degree in wickerwork, graduating in 1987. His journey led him to the “Žilvitis” art products company and subsequently to the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. In addition to his work at the Kaunas center, Virgilijus operates his own wickerwork workshop, crafting a diverse range of traditional and contemporary pieces. From baskets to boxes, bowls, plates, and travel bags, each piece is a testament to his skill and artistry.

A member of the Vilnius Union of Folk Artists and the experimental archaeology club “Pajuta”, Virgilijus is dedicated to preserving and reviving ancient weaving techniques. His works have found a place in prestigious locations such as the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. Virgilijus has generously shared his knowledge with his wife, Reda, who has become a skilled artisan in her own right. Together, they have cultivated a thriving wickerwork business, participating in renowned craft fairs across Lithuania, Ukraine, Norway, and Poland. Their annual participation in the prestigious “Kaziuki” fair has earned them accolades for their contribution to preserving Lithuanian heritage.
