Olena Machekhina’s lifelong passion for knitting has transformed into a captivating artistry. Since childhood, she has meticulously crafted sweaters, hats, scarves, and socks by hand, using only the finest natural sheep’s wool sourced from Carpathian villages. Her designs are an homage to traditional Ukrainian folk attire, infused with modern sensibilities. To enhance the durability and shape of her pieces, Machekhina skillfully blends cotton and linen with the wool.

Her work is further enriched by the incorporation of intricate ethnic motifs from across Ukraine. A dedicated craftswoman, she regularly showcases her creations at renowned venues such as the Ivan Honchar Museum in Kyiv and the Pyrohiv Open-Air Museum. She is a member of the regional Association of Folk Artists of the Kyiv region.
