Jagoda, the creative mind behind “Polska Choinka Ludowa” FB and IG page, delights viewers with her handcrafted ornaments. While always possessing a flair for creativity and a talent for crafting, her passion for folk art ignited during her 2015 move to Łódź.

As she shares, “My partner and I immersed ourselves in the local culture, exploring museums and open-air exhibits. We were particularly captivated by the Łowicz Museum and the Maurzyce open-air museum. There, I discovered the enchanting world of Łowicz papercuts. Driven by curiosity, I began collecting books on the subject and experimenting with the art form myself. My previous passion for collecting vintage Polish Christmas ornaments complemented this new interest. A pivotal moment arrived when I found Zofia Woźniak’s book, ‘Choinka mojej mamy’ (My Mother’s Christmas Tree), featuring exquisite ornament patterns from the early 20th century. Inspired, I began recreating these designs while simultaneously seeking out similar treasures from the interwar period. My collection of these books has grown steadily, supplemented by digital archives of women’s magazines from that era.”

Jagoda’s artistic repertoire extends beyond ornaments. Her skilled hands transform straw and paper into captivating spherical and disc-shaped spiders, while eggshells become canvases for intricate papercut and reed designs. She also brings traditional motifs to life in the form of festive carolers’ stars. A palette of colorful and metallic papers, delicate tissue paper, glass beads, threads, straw, and wire provides the foundation for her creations. Papercuts, in particular, hold a special place in her heart, adorning both chicken and goose eggshells. Her artistic talent also shines through in her handcrafted greeting cards, featuring the beloved Łowicz papercut designs. While deeply inspired by tradition, Jagoda infuses her work with a unique perspective, crafting original patterns that pay homage to the past without replication.

In 2023, Jagoda’s exceptional talent was recognized with a second-place award in the “Narratives and Interpretations in Folk Art. All-Polish Review of Folk Art” competition, hosted by the Association of Folk Artists. Her entry, “Już pachnie Wigilią” (It Already Smells Like Christmas Eve), captivated the judges with its embodiment of the competition’s theme, “Paper-Scissors-Life.”
