Jacek Wiak is a versatile sculptor
His creative path began with simple childhood experiments, carving boats from tree bark. A pivotal moment in his artistic development occurred in primary school when a local sculptor, Józef Kula, visited his art class. Inspired by this demonstration, Jacek began to experiment with wood, embarking on a lifelong journey of craftsmanship that continues to this day.
Despite that early encounter with a master, Jacek is a true self-taught artist. He has spent decades refining his skills through trial and error, developing a deep understanding of his materials. His work is uniquely tied to the land; he harvests wood from his own forest and collects stones found in local fields to serve as his canvas. His portfolio is remarkably diverse, ranging from traditional folk and sacred art to nature-inspired themes and even fantastical subjects. He continuously balances his time between wood and stone, always seeking new ways to evolve his style.
Jacek is a member of the Association of Folk Artists and has been honored with the Lubartów Starosta Award for his dedication to promoting and preserving folk art within the region.
