Dmytro Kudria grew up in an environment where woodworking was a natural way of life. His heritage is steeped in the craft; his grandfather was a violin maker, and his father hand-built the wooden home where the family lived. Although Dmytro studied wind instruments at the Music School in Kropyvnytskyi, the love for wood instilled in his childhood eventually defined his professional calling.

Today, Dmytro is a renowned craftsman and educator based in Oleksandriia, Kirovohrad Oblast. At the Oleksandr Shakal Center for Children and Youth Creativity, he mentors the next generation of woodworkers. Drawing from decades of experience, he developed a series of methodological guidelines that are now implemented in schools across Ukraine. He teaches his students under the motto “beauty will save the world”—a philosophy clearly reflected in his own work.

His creations are characterized by delicate forms, the preservation of natural wood colors, and intricate carved ornamentation. Dmytro produces everything from traditional toys to simple musical instruments; the clear, resonant sound of the latter is a hallmark of his craft, drawing crowds to his exhibitions. A member of the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, Dmytro has received an honorary distinction from the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science for his outstanding pedagogical achievements.
