Though they differ in many ways, they are bound by a profound connection to traditional song. Katarzyna Chodoń, Ewa Grochowska, and Ewa Szymczak invite you to a musical narrative about the collective female experience, reflecting the fates of village singers from eras past. The program features traditional pieces from Małopolska, the Kielce region, Lublin, Greater Poland, and beyond. Held on International Women’s Day, this concert offers a perfect opportunity to listen to the feminine stories etched into traditional songs.

The artists say

“This concert practically invented itself during a conversation where we shared reflections on life, art, and the fact that despite our different ages, paths, and passions, we are united by a great love for traditional song and the shared destiny of women. We are passionate not only about the repertoire but also about the lives of famous and obscure village singers. Some we met personally as their students; others we know only from photographs and the voices resonating in archival recordings.”

Music is neither “feminine” nor “masculine”—it is human, soul-stirring, and universal. It serves as a mirror for both sound and existence, a key that opens doors to emotions we often cannot name, yet which remain powerful and shared. During this Lublin premiere, we will hear narratives from legendary singers such as Franciszka Ciesiółkowa, Anna Malec, Joanna Rachańska, and Waleria Żarnochowa, alongside songs from our own family traditions.
