Workshops | Paper curtain | Anna Olesiuk-Sawicka | age 18+ | REGISTRATION

Before colourful glazed paper became available in rural areas, openwork curtains made from white paper were created. They became the beginning of paper decoration in peasant cottages. These were often intricate and delicate cut-outs made up of hundreds of tiny openings forming a lace-like structure.

The technique involved cutting patterns with a knife or scissors from folded sheets of paper or tissue paper, following designs drawn beforehand. The main source of inspiration for these decorations was nature.

During the workshop, participants will create their own paper curtain.
