Workshops | Krajka sokólska | Urszula Lengiewicz | age 18+ | REGISTRATION
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, woven bands in the Sokółka region formed an important part of traditional folk dress, primarily as an element of men’s attire. They were also given as gifts to wedding guests. Woollen bands were sometimes tied around infants as well.
Sokółka woven bands, made using the pick-up weaving technique, are distinguished by their vivid colours and bold colour combinations, including green with red, navy blue with red, green with purple, and black with pink.
The workshop with Urszula Lengiewicz will offer an opportunity to learn about the tradition of weaving woollen bands in the Sokółka region and to weave your own band using weaving tablets.
