Workshop | Pomeranian Melodies: Then and Now | PoMore TanzOrkiestra (POL/DEU) | REGISTRATION starts on 11 August

About

This workshop offers a chance to explore the instrumental music of Western Pomerania in both its present-day and pre–World War II forms. Together, we will play dance tunes drawn from musical notation, oral tradition, and the family heritage of the band’s members.

PoMore TanzOrkiestra is dedicated to bringing back into cultural memory and living practice the repertoire of people and communities whose music disappeared from certain places as a result of post-war migrations, resettlements, and political and social upheavals. Were these melodies forgotten — and if so, how? What paths have they followed since? We will explore these questions together in a hands-on way, tracing the routes and links along which melodies and songs travel — regardless of historical events or political borders.

The workshop will also be a moment to reflect on intangible cultural heritage, intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, and how we can connect with these ideas in everyday life through the shared experience of making music.
