Talk | Where did Polish bagpipes come from? Myths and mysteries | Rafał Miśta (POL)
About
Bagpipes are like animals—it’s hard to talk about them as a whole without distinguishing their different “species.” In Poland, we have several types of bagpipes, depending on how you count them. Where did they come from? How did they evolve? Are there any that have vanished completely?
By using ethnographic maps, historical sources, and key concepts from evolutionary biology, we can try to outline scenarios for the origin and history of bagpipes in Poland. This is exactly what Rafał Miśta will discuss at the upcoming meeting.
