Kukaj Kukawko is a group that not only performs traditional music, but also cultivates and passes it on to future generations. The members of the group live in Greater Poland and perform throughout the country. They play in kindergartens, cultural centres and at family festivals. They introduce children to the music of their grandparents. They create original musical arrangements and dances deeply rooted in Polish folklore and tradition. They record songs and educational films.
By passion, they are singers, dancers, musicians and animators of children’s activities.
By education, they are ethnographers, folk dance instructors and graduates of the Gordon Method Course, Bullerbyn and Leśni Przewodnicy.
They are close to forest education, attachment-based education, and the democratic pedagogies of Reggio Emilia, Waldorf and Montessori. In their work with children, they follow the NVC approach.
Dominika Oczepa – plays the violin, sings and leads activities at the same time. She collaborates with theatre and music groups. She worked as a caregiver in forest kindergartens. She graduated from a first-level music school and completed the Bullerbyn Foundation caregiver course. She studies music therapy at the Academy of Music in Łódź. Graduate of the Leśni Przewodnicy course.
Witold Roy Zalewski – sings and plays anything that comes to hand, recently mainly the accordion and pipes. For a decade, he has been documenting Polish children’s games as part of the Mały Kolberg Programme. Graduate of the Integral Ecopsychology School and the Bullerbyn Foundation caregiver course.
Ewa Szymczak – cellist, singer and violinist. Member and co-creator of many projects dedicated to traditional music, mainly within the Dom Tańca Poznań community. Since 2021, together with Maria Woźna, she has been creating the Baby Borowe duo, whose repertoire includes music from Greater Poland. She runs a traditional music group for children and young people at the Youth Cultural Centre No. 2 in Poznań. She co-creates performances for children at Teatr Mozaika.
