A legendary band playing dance music from the Radom, Lublin and destymflandzkie regions – hence the name of the band. Since 2007, the group has organised workshops and informal playing sessions in Lublin, contributing to the development of the local traditional music scene. The band has performed at our festival many times – and returns to the dance stage on the occasion of its 20th edition.
They play in a style still described in villages as “old-fashioned”, but also in various new styles, depending on their mood, needs and possibilities.
Their playing is characterised by rawness of form and improvisation. They mainly play for dancing, based on the belief that music and dance are the best ways of creating dialogue between people and generations. They have taken part in musical projects combining rural musical traditions with contemporary electronic and avant-garde music, which is, in a sense, the result of reflecting on the place in contemporary culture and the world of the music they practise. For them, the question of its spiritual and aesthetic values is not an “ethnomusicological” question or a question of any other academic nature, but rather a need to express the feeling that it corresponds to who they are and how they see themselves as people searching for a form of artistic expression.
They are the initiators of artistic and educational projects dedicated to learning traditional instrumental music, including “Muzyka trzech pokoleń – tradycje muzyki instrumentalnej na Lubelszczyźnie” (2010), “Staromodni” (2011) and “Złoty Talar” (2012 and 2013).
