Re:tradition Playground – traditional games and activities for children
Please note the change of location of the Playground this year!
The Re:tradition Playground is a space where adults can return in their memories to the world of their childhood, while children can discover the incredible richness of traditional games and activities.
As every year during the Festival, there will also be an opportunity to bring to life wooden toys made by Jan Puk, a Lasowiacki folk artist, arrange block puzzles featuring the works of the outstanding Lublin painter Stanisław Koguciuk, or try playing the Kashubian burczybas and devil’s fiddles prepared by Tadeusz Makowski. There will also be colourful horses, hens on ramps, and carousels from Stryszawa and Pewla Wielka, places that have been famous for their toy-making traditions for many years.
In addition, visitors will find special tables for playing tiddlywinks, tracks for bottle-cap races, a mud kitchen, and a chance to play elastic jumping games.
Besides the toys and games filling the Playground, this space will also host events for the youngest visitors. Kapela Fedaków will introduce you to traditional Silesian music, games, and dances, while Agnieszka Kontny and Teatrzyk Raz-dwa-trzyk will invite you to a performance in which the story is told with strings woven around the performer’s fingers. We will also see performances prepared by Katarzyna Jackowska-Enemuo and Mateusz Szemraj, as well as the Kukaj Kukawko group.
The Re:tradition Playground is a space created with families in mind, where play and educational activities provide an opportunity to spend time together, strengthen bonds, and show the youngest visitors what folk culture is.
