A family orchestra performing and singing the music of north-eastern Poland, including the traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of Warmia and Masuria, people resettled in these areas after World War II, as well as the musical heritage of the Suwałki region and Podlasie.
The Burdalski Family has been making music together since 2020. The direct reason for their shared musical activity was a series of grassroots gatherings of musical families that co-created the ORKIESTRA RADOŚCI project, as well as, paradoxically, the period of lockdown during the pandemic. Another important moment in the musical and professional development of the Orchestra and the Family was the invitation to co-create Kaja and Janusz Prusinowski’s four-album project “Cztery Domy Słońca – Zima – Wiosna – Lato – Jesień” (“Four Houses of the Sun – Winter – Spring – Summer – Autumn”), including preparing the repertoire, recording sessions at Polish Radio studios, and participation in concerts organised by Polish Radio for Children at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in 2022–2024.
The Burdalski Family Orchestra consists of musicians from two generations:
– the eldest daughter and, at the same time, the musical director, Gabriela Burdalska (vocals, clarinet, piano, tenor saxophone),
– the middle son, musician Filip Burdalski, supporting his sister in shaping the musical direction (vocals, trumpet, drum kit, piano),
– the youngest son, Adam Burdalski (vocals, button accordion, piano, harmonica, melodica)
and their parents, who provide the rhythmic foundation and contextual background:
– Robert Burdalski (vocals, baraban), the substantive and organisational coordinator,
– Marta Urban-Burdalska (vocals, bass, dance, activities).
