Krajka is a Ukrainian band from Przemyśl. Since 2011, the group has passionately reconstructed the singing traditions of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland, with particular focus on the musical heritage of Nadsanie. The group was founded at the Ukrainian House on the initiative of local young people from the Ukrainian national minority in Poland.
Krajka’s repertoire is the result of in-depth source research. The members of the band draw on archival field recordings, ethnographic research materials and songs preserved in home traditions. In their work, they not only analyse and recreate 19th-century records by ethnographer Oskar Kolberg, but above all learn directly from the oldest living female singers of the region.
