Iga Fedak is an ethnologist, ethnomusicologist and folk dance instructor specialising in Silesian dances. She teaches the subject “traditional dance” as part of postgraduate studies in Polish traditional music at the Academy of Music in Katowice. Since 2015, she has conducted traditional dance workshops for children and adults, as well as training sessions for teachers in this field (e.g. as part of Mały Kolberg and at the Katowice teacher training centres WOM and Metis). She teaches both as part of open workshops (e.g. during all editions of the Silesian Tabor held so far, within the Katowice participatory budget projects “Od przedszkolaka do Ślązaka” and others) and for organised groups, for example during workshops at music schools, workshops for students of the Academy of Music in Katowice, and even with regional ensembles (the Children’s Regional Ensemble “Jedynka” from Pszczyna, the Pszczyna Regional Ensemble, and the children’s ensemble “Dąbrowa” from Dąbrowa Górnicza). She organises and leads dance parties, during which she performs and teaches dances with her family band Kapela Fedaków, where she sings and plays the baraban, performing traditional Silesian songs in dance rhythms.
In 2026, she leads classes at the Summer School of Tradition organised by the Kultura Enter Foundation.
