The Jagiellonian Fair – handicrafts fair
The Jagiellonian Fair plays a vital role within the Re:tradition Festival, showcasing the rich diversity of folk art and traditional crafts from various regions of Poland, as well as Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovakia, and Hungary. With a specific emphasis on traditional woodwork this year, the Fair will offer a wide array of stalls featuring exquisite wooden sculptures, toys, instruments, painted chests, decorative boxes, stools, utensils, spoons, and sieves. Visitors will also have the opportunity to engage with talented woodcut and stamp creators.
In addition to woodwork, the fair will feature other traditional crafts, including weaving, painted eggs, paper flowers, straw pająki (spiders, chandelier-like ornaments), straw decorations, basketry, and ceramics.
Beyond the opportunity to admire and purchase remarkable folk art pieces, the festival provides a unique chance to witness the meticulous craftsmanship and expertise of the invited artists. Many of them offer live demonstrations of their crafts, acting as teachers who warmly guide visitors wishing to try their hand at a particular traditional craft.
