smithery and metalworking

POL,

Wojciechów

Roman’s forge dates back to 1920. It belongs to the family and has been passed down from father to son for over 90 years. At first, working at the forge was associated with services for farmers, such as hobnailing horses or fixing farming tools. Nowadays, time and needs have changed, and Roman’s primary focus is what he calls architectural or artistic smithing (gates, fences, barriers, and furniture for the home and garden). For more than 25 years, his forge has been the venue of gatherings of blacksmiths from all over Poland. His hometown, Wojciechów, has the only Polish museum devoted to blacksmithing.

In addition to being the Master of Blacksmithing Art, Roman is the chairman of Poland’s Association of Blacksmiths and a member of the Folk Artists’ Association.
