He was 87 years old and he spent 70 as a musician and 40 as the leader of his band. As impressive as these numbers may be, Stefan Wyczyński cannot be enclosed in any numbers or captured in any words that would even begin to describe him. A charismatic solo performer, whose energy and wit are legends, passed away on 26 May 2020. From 1980 he led an orchestra that his brother Feliks established in 1935. The members of the band, winners of many awards, had worked with the Kielce branch of Estrada Łódzka and performed in Poland and abroad. They took part in countless weddings and performances. As Stefan used to say, “I love performing, I love music, I love young people. I keep performing on stage. My band is a good brand. People still need me, they still invite me to various performances and weddings. […] I write the lyrics myself, I perform them myself, I’m a member of Folk Artists’ Association”. The band of Stefan Wyczyński from Lubcza performs music from the Świętokrzyskie region, often to lyrics that Stefan arranged himself. The musician met Olaf Deriglasoff during the filming of the TV programme “Szlakiem Kolberga”. The concert at The Jagiellonian Fair will refer to this encounter and the vibrant figure of Stefan Wyczyński “As long as I am able to, I will sing, dance, destroy anger, give joy. Members:
- Kruk Janusz, accordion
- Lędźwa Kazimierz, clarinet
- Ryński Jan, trumpet
- Wyczyński Jacek, double bass
